Annika Sörenstam and Martin Hall put on quite a clinic at the new range at The Club at Ibis in West Palm Beach which included the demonstration of the TopTracer technology on its range. They are the first private club in Florida to install it at the state-of-the-art facility.
Sörenstam spent nearly an hour doing the clinic on Nov. 3 with Hall, the Director of Golf Instruction at Ibis. The two shared stories and tips with Ibis’ members, about 300 strong.
“The facility took all summer to build and it is a fantastic technological achievement,” said Hall, who has served as Golf Channel’s lead instructor on School of Golf for the past decade. “It’s magical, amazing, inspirational. It’s an absolute treasure chest for anybody who wants to try and get better at golf.”
“Of course to have Annika kick it off today and to listen to some of the tactics and the strategies from who I believe is far and away the greatest lady to ever play the game … has been a pleasure for me and for the members.”
Sörenstam, who finished the clinic despite a sore neck and shoulder, came away impressed.
“This is great,” said Sörenstam, who won 90 tournaments before stepping away from the game in 2008 to start a family. “This takes practice to a different level. You get instant feedback. You get competition. You get distances. You learn more about your swing and how far you hit it. It is more interactive.”
The $3 million facility features new equipment, a new fitting center and a newly branded Ibis Golf Academy featuring Martin Hall … and robots to pick range balls and cut the grass.
