The South Florida PGA Foundation kicked off its partnership with Super Bowl MVP Santonio Holmes and his 10 ALL IN Foundation on Thursday, July 8 at Banyan Cay Resort & Golf.

Holmes joined Vice President of the South Florida PGA Paul Clivio, PGA, plus members of Boca Raton's  St. Andrews Country Club, for a round of golf and networking.

The partnership will bring golf to underserved communities in South Florida.

Holmes attended Glades Central High School and went on to be a standout wide receiver at Ohio State before playing for the Pittsburgh Steelers. He was named Super Bowl XLIII MVP in 2009.

After retiring from the NFL, Holmes found a new love for golf and the life lessons that come with it and is now focused on introducing the game to communities that don’t have it readily available.

“As I got older, I understood why people play golf,” Holmes said. “I think it’s so important that this game is brought to people because of what it provides: responsibility, friendships, networking. You can’t find that anywhere else and it’s a sport that you can play your whole life.”

Starting with Belle Glade where Holmes grew up, during the week of July 19-23, PGA Professionals from the South Florida section will teach the core values that the game of golf is built upon to students at Belle Glade Central High School.

In addition, the camp will focus on STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts, Math) and provide activities in health and wellness, social and emotional learning, soft skills training and a hands-on STEAM project to be worked on throughout the duration of the week.
