MLGT: Menard Snares Course Record

With temperatures in the 80s, Canadian Raoul Menard was the hottest thing going Thursday, Feb. 11 in a Minor League Golf Tour tournament at Wellington National Golf Club.

Raoul Menard made nine birdies and two bogeys en route to his course record.

Menard, of Ange-Gardien, Quebec, fired a course record 7-under-par 65 to win by three strokes. It was his second MLGT victory, the first coming last November at Monarch Country Club in Palm City.

Tied for second at 68 among the 60 starters were Matt Hill of Palm Beach Gardens, Ben Van Scoyk of Grand Rapids, Mich., and George Cunningham, Lucas, Ind.

Menard received $1,000 from the $7,770 purse plus $350 in the skins game and $235 from an optional bonus pool for a total of $1,585. This raised his career earnings to $8,181.18 since he joined the MLGT in 2017.

The event was also a tune-up for the pre-qualifier for the PGA Tour’s Puerto Rico Open. The pre-qualifier is scheduled Feb. 18, the open qualifier Feb. 22 and the Puerto Rico Open Feb. 25-28 at Grand Reserve CC in Rio Grande, PR.
