MLGT: McGowan’s Bogey-Free Round Wins It
Michael McGowan of Southern Pines, N.C., outlasted the Minor League Golf Tour’s career money leader Tuesday, Oct. 13 at Plantation Preserve for his sixth victory on the South Florida-based mini-tour.
McGowan shot 69-64—133 on 10 birdies and a bogey, collecting $1,500 from the $6,620 purse, $300 from an optional bonus pool and $66 in the skins game for a total of $1,866.
Sunny Kim of Queens, N.Y., scored 69-65—134 with 12 birdies and three bogeys, receiving $1,200 for the day and $60 in skins. This boosted his career earnings to $294,560 since he joined the MLGT in October, 2006.
Both players birdied the par-4 17th and par-5 18th holes the final round.
