MLGT: Hart, Germann Are Simply Better
Josh Hart of Jupiter and David Germann of Clayton, N.C., posted a 13-under-par 59 about a third of the way through the round and it held up Tuesday for the win in the 14th annual Holiday Team Championship conducted by the Minor League Golf Tour.
Playing a scramble format on the first nine at Atlantis Country Club, they eagled the par-5 first and ninth holes. Then twice they made three birdies in a row, at Nos. 4, 5 and 6, and again on 16, 17 and 18 in a better ball event on the back nine. They had three other birdies.
It was the 18th MLGT win for Hart, 36, and the third for Germann, 26. They earned $1,271 apiece, including $800 from the $7,800 purse, $231 from an optional bonus pool and $240 in the skins game.
Second among 34 teams were the Pastore brothers of Connecticut, David, of Greenwich, and Paul, of Stamford. Together, they made an eagle and 10 birdies. They each received $745.
The 18th MLGT season opens Jan. 4 at Country Club of Coral Springs.
