MLGT: Beach Wins Again, Peaper And Graboyes Capture Qualifier

Alex Beach of Stillwater, Minn., has won for the second time this week on the Minor League Golf Tour. On Thursday, Nov. 19, is it was just a bit more difficult.

Beach birdied the first extra hole at The Florida Club in Stuart, sinking a 4½-foot putt to outlast James Driscoll of Brookline, Mass., who had just missed a 10 footer. They had tied at 10-under 134. Beach closed with four birdies on the inward nine of a bogey-free round of 65. He opened with 69 Wednesday, scoring an eagle at the par-5 fourth hole, four birdies and three bogeys.

On Monday, Beach triumphed at Abacoa Golf Club in Jupiter for his first career MLGT win. He earned $1,000 Monday and $2,606.50 Thursday. The latter included $2,000 from the $14,050 purse, $414.50 from an optional bonus pool and $192 in a skins game.

Driscoll had rounds of 66-68 with 11 birdies and a bogey. He collected $2,014.50. His only other MLGT win was in May 2019, also at The Florida Club.

In a separate event here, Brant Peaper of Tequesta and Luke Graboyes of Watchung, N.J., halved the short third hole with three par-3s before darkness halted play. Each will receive $2,500 toward their qualifying school entry fee in 2021 for the 2022 season on either the PGA or Korn Ferry tours. They had tied at 137 in regulation. Neither Beach nor Driscoll had attempted the tour qualifier.

The 85th tournament of the year drew 50 starters. The MLGT plays three one-day events next week: Sunday at Winston Trails GC in Lake Worth; Monday at Indian Spring CC-East in Boynton Beach, and Tuesday at Sandhill Crane GC in Palm Beach Gardens.
