Larry Little and his legendary golf outing

Everybody knows Larry Little, NFL Hall of Famer and member of the Dolphins’ Perfect Season, was a big, big man on the football field.

In retirement, he remains a big man.

Big with his heart.

For the past dozen years Little, a menacing pulling guard who possesses two glittering Super Bowl rings, has sponsored the Larry Little Legends Golf Classic, a charity tournament to raise money for various causes. This year, the event was held Dec. 7 at Don Shula’s Miami Lakes Golf Club, with the proceeds going to a scholarship fund at Bethune-Cookman University, particularly significant to Little because he played and coached there.

Little summed up his philanthropy concisely: “I always believed in giving back. It means a lot to me that young people will get an education without having to suffer financially.”
