The South Florida Broadcasters Celebrity Tournament, set for Feb. 5 at Jacaranda, benefits the My Family Matters Foundation and Joe DiMaggio’s Children’s Hospital.

Jack Shoenfelt played his first 10 holes in 4-under to get the lead Tuesday, Aug. 24 and won the South Florida PGA Senior Section Championship Presented by Cadillac at Banyan Cay Resort & Club in West Palm Beach. Shoenfelt, the owner of Oriole Golf and Tennis Center in Margate, led a group of eight who earned spots in the 33rd Senior PGA Professional Championship.
Evan Bowser shot an 8-under 64 Tuesday to win the National Car Rental SFPGA Assistant Professional Championship at Wyndemere Country Club in Naples on Tuesday, Aug. 10. Jason Robinson of the Country Club at Mirasol (Palm Beach Gardens) was the top finisher from our area, T2 at 7-under 137.

The South Florida PGA Doral Junior Open at Trump National Doral Miami produced a second consecutive major champion in the overall girls’ division, Vilda Westh Blanc of Palm Beach Gardens (and Tennessee).
The best junior golfers in the United States trekked to Kentucky for the 45th Junior PGA Championships and South Florida was well represented, with nine golfers in the two divisions.

In Girls’ 13-15, Delray Beach’s Gabriella Albert (T3), Pembroke Pines’ Rachel Gomez (T6), Jupiter’s Gabriella DeGasperis (T6) and Boca Raton’s Kayla Bryant (T10) accomplished the feat.
